Some people deviated before reaching half way,and when they found their way back,they had already travelled such a long way.
But, in this life,cherishing our affinities, we've agreed to walk the Tzu Chi Path, which is also a fruition of our past life's affinities.
Let us promise each other now to continue our affinity into future lives,
not lagging behind and getting lost,nor deviating from the path by taking a forked road.
This is our agreement today.
Volunteers,Tzu Chi has been in service for 50 years.
(We're entering our next 50-year period.)
You are certified in the first year of Tzu Chi's coming 50-year period.
I have been carrying out Tzu Chi's work for the first 50-year.
I don't know how many more years I can continue doing this.
But, I'm certain that in the next 50-year period,you will spread Tzu Chi's work further and wider and continue the work for countless 50-year periods in the future.
Let us promise each other to continue walking this path for countless 50-year periods life after life.
However, we must be very mindful in paving this path.
In the past 50 years,Tzu Chi volunteers in Taiwan have followed me in establishing Tzu Chi and paved this path of love step by step.
Now, this path has been laid out to the world.
Next, we need Tzu Chi volunteers around the world to continue paving this path together inch by inch with love.
Are you willing to do this? (Yes.)
That is right, we are united in heart.
Volunteers give of themselves mindfully in laborious work to complete projects.
Over a rocky or uneven ground, volunteers can pave a smooth surface with interlocking bricks because of their interlocking love.
The need is stronger for global Tzu Chi volunteers to continue spreading this invisible but inspiring love.
For the past 50 years, Tzu Chi has inspired lasting compassion in many people to carry out charity work by going to and giving direct aid to countries in need which cover about half of the total number of countries in the world.
In the future, to send love and aid to the rest of the world will rely on the help from overseas Tzu Chi volunteers.
Volunteers pave every inch of the Tzu Chi Path with love.
I wish volunteers pave this path with a long-term commitment and Great Love. Dedicate time to Tzu Chi,you will inspire lasting compassion and spread Great Love.
